Roverandom by J.R.R. Tolkien
February 13, 2003

Roverandom is the account of the adventures of a little pup named… Rover.  Rover is magically transformed into a little toy against his will by the wizard Arterxerxes.  Now young Rover must find a way to undo the spell.  Rover finds himself going to the mystical and mysterious land of the Man-of-the-Moon and the enchanting seas the mer-people.

Obviously the reason why I picked up this book was because of the author; whom I have no reason to mention. (If you cannot even guess, reposition your eyes in an upward manner.)  Yes, Roverandom is a children’s story.  In fact, it’s a very good children’s story.

Rich in colourful detail, jolly characters and even references from various lore and myth, Roverandom will not only appeal to children but the older groups as well.  Roverandom will most certainly serve you well as a breather from those epic sagas.
