No, Ghosts of the Abyss is not, I repeat is NOT, a horror movie.  Nor is it directly related to anything ghostly.  Yes, the title is misleading.  To clear things up, it’s a documentary about the Titanic, the real Titanic, following the experience of director James Cameron’s visit to the depths of the ocean.  Yes, I do think James Cameron is obsessed.

Anyways, Ghosts of the Abyss is presented in 3D.  This enhances the experience of the journey the audience takes to the deep, it’s pretty neat.

Further, Ghosts of the Abyss takes scenes from the James Cameron’s popular movie, Titanic and merges these scenes into the current state of Titanic.  I found this quite interesting, but I’m starting to think Cameron is making an exaggerated boast on the accuracy of his movie.

This is probably the first documentary I’ve seen in theatres, so I have nothing to compare it to.  Oh wait, I’ve see documentaries at Science World, that’ll do I guess.  In comparison, Ghosts of the Abyss doesn’t really provide interesting facts on the Titanic, it’s just a documentary on Cameron’s visit in a little submarine.  But it’s interesting nonetheless, and you’ll find yourself in awe looking at what remains of this tragic disaster.

Overall, Ghosts of the Abyss, although labeled a documentary, only provides superficial value.  The effects of 3D make it even more worth seeing and your experience superior.  Those who thought Titanic was an overrated piece of garbage, may find this documentary more agreeable.
