Finding Nemo – Review by Leo Cai
It would be pretty exciting to live in a vast community under the sea where small plankton and large sharks roam in your very neighbourhood! So this movie begins, with a father and mother who care so much about their little children. Sadly, they break apart due to a relentless attack by a shark and only one of their beloved eggs are left alive – which is named Nemo. He is taken all the way to Sydney by fish catchers, leaving his father devastated and tortured. After a very interesting story and journey across the ocean, the two-fished family is harmonized and ends in an ever happier ending. Excitement Factor – Although most of the scenes happen underwater, this animated Pixar movie is mind-popping! From speedy chases of sharks and glowfish in the dark to dodgeball with a myriad of jellyfish, this film will make you gasp, make you laugh, and make you cry until you can do nothing more but stare blankly at the screen. Storyline – The story is truly amazing. Well-thought-of and beautifully constructed – easy to understand and grasp. Excellent dialogue and rib-aching humour will keep you on your seat, no matter how bad you have to go use the washroom. Every event connects to another and makes perfect sense. Music, Picture, and Whatever – The music, for as much as I can remember, is tropical and “water-like” – very comfortable for the viewer and listener. The track is appropriate and precisely put in whenever the scene calls for it. Finding Nemo is an animated cartoon movie, so slick 3D construction and structure of the world underwater is fascinating indeed. You cannot see any flaws whatsoever. Ripples at the surface with the Sydney Opera House in the background seems hardly artificial - you just feel like you’re floating on it in reality.
